JACKSON, NJ – Jackson Township has opened a new playground at Johnson Park, featuring modern equipment and ADA-compliant play areas.
According to the Jackson Council, the playground includes a zip line, seesaw, swings, covered play areas, and designated accessible features. It is part of a broader initiative by the Jackson Council to improve public parks using grant funding.
“When we took office, our priority was to improve our town’s aging playgrounds and bring them into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act,” said Council President Jennifer Kuhn. “We have added several new ADA-compliant playgrounds, pickleball courts, and we’re working hard to get the ROVA farms project going.”
A temporary gravel walkway is currently in place to provide access. A permanent concrete sidewalk is scheduled for installation in August.
“The council invites all of our families to spend some time in our town’s new playgrounds and to get the most out of the outdoors this summer,” said Councilman Mordy Burnstein.
A safety fence has been set up around the new play area. “We ask that parents keep children off the areas covered in hay outside of that fence to allow for grass to grow,” said Shawn Bolinsky, Asst. Supervisor of Public Works.
New playgrounds have also been completed at the Jackson Justice Complex and Woodlane Park.
