NEWPORT NEWS, VA – An arrest has been made in the homicide of 41-year-old Wayne McMillan following an early morning shooting last Sunday. Newport News Police Department (NNPD) reported that they responded to a call concerning an argument and subsequent gunfire at a home on the 900 block of Forest Lake Court around 4:38 AM.
Upon arrival, officers discovered McMillan inside the residence with a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The victim’s nephew, 31-year-old Cintel Kelley, was detained on the scene and has been charged with first-degree murder along with several firearms-related offenses.
Chief Drew expressed gratitude towards the community for their support and cooperation during this investigation.
