BROOKLYN — An off-duty New York City corrections officer was arrested early Friday morning in East Flatbush and faces multiple charges, including assault and endangering the welfare of a child, according to police.

Otis Simon, 52, was taken into custody at 4:55 a.m. within the confines of the 67th Precinct. Simon, a uniformed member of the Department of Correction, is facing charges of assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Authorities did not release additional details about the incident or the identities of any victims involved.

The Department of Correction confirmed the arrest and stated, “The matter is under investigation.”

Criminal obstruction of breathing is a misdemeanor charge in New York and typically involves allegations of choking or restricting airflow. The specific nature of the alleged assault and child endangerment has not been disclosed.

The incident is being reviewed by both the NYPD and the Department of Correction’s Investigation Division.
