On Wednesday, 2:19 a.m., Plainfield police officer Michael Murray observed a black Dodge passenger car exit from a business near the intersection of Perry Road and S.R 267.
“After observing several traffic infractions, Officer Murray initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. There were two occupants in the vehicle. While conversing with both occupants, Officer Murray observed indications of narcotics present in the vehicle and observed a firearm,” the department said in a statement. “Officer Murray called for a second officer to the scene for officer safety. This along with other suspicious indicators, both occupants were asked to exit the vehicle. A Probable Cause search of the vehicle was completed.”
Police reported the seizure of 6.5 pounds of suspected fentanyl pills, two firearms, and a large amount of currency.
“The owner of the vehicle was arrested and charged with narcotics related offenses, but as a reminder is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law,” the department said. “Fentanyl is a very serious, addictive, and deadly drug. It disrupts families and can end lives. We share this because our agency has seen firsthand the destruction this drug and many others have on our communities.”
