WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a significant development, two men have been arrested by the D.C. Metro Police Department in connection with an armed robbery at The Wharf in Southwest D.C. The incident, which occurred in early February, involved the suspects allegedly using firearms to rob a pedestrian.

On the evening of February 4, the victim was accosted by two individuals wielding a rifle and a handgun on the 600 block of Maine Avenue, Southwest. The assailants forcibly took items from the victim’s possession before escaping in a white SUV.

Following a thorough investigation, 22-year-old Kharris O. Akinola and 21-year-old Christopher Light, both residents of Southwest, D.C., were apprehended on March 25. They face charges of Armed Robbery. During Light’s arrest, a rifle was seized, leading to an additional charge of Possession of an Unregistered Firearm against him. Moreover, Light is implicated in another crime – an Attempted Armed Robbery that took place on February 5 in the Seventh District, where the modus operandi mirrored the earlier incident. This case is still under active investigation.
