Pennsylvania Man Gets Life In Prison For Brutal Recorded Murder of Girlfriend

A Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to life in prison for the brutal murder of his girlfriend, which he staged as a “bondage photo shoot” in the Nevada desert. John Matthew Chapman, 44, was convicted of kidnapping resulting in death, following his arrest for the killing of 33-year-old Jaime Rae Feden.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced that the sentencing took place on Friday, marking the end of a horrific series of events that began in September 2019.

Chapman deceived Feden into believing they were traveling to Las Vegas for a house-hunting trip, potentially culminating in marriage. However, his actual intentions were far more sinister.

During their journey from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, to Las Vegas—a trip covering nearly 2,200 miles—Chapman had already planned the grim outcome.

He had conducted online searches for terms like “dump,” “body,” and “Nevada” just the night before their arrival. In a devastating betrayal, Chapman ultimately led Feden into the desert, restrained her to a signpost with zip ties, and sealed her fate by duct-taping her mouth and nose, leading to her death.

U.S. Attorney Jason M. Frierson of the District of Nevada condemned the act, stating, “The defendant violated the victim’s trust by luring her away from her family and friends in Pennsylvania and out into the Nevada desert where he viciously killed her.” Frierson emphasized that the severe sentence serves as a stern warning against such heinous acts.

The investigation, which involved both federal and local law enforcement agencies, has brought some measure of justice to Feden’s family, although the loss remains immeasurable.
