Route 37 bridge lane closures during the week for the next few weeks

TOMS RIVER, NJ – if you’re planning on traveling to the Jersey Shore over the next few weeks, heading to the northern Barrier Island state officials are warning drivers to plan for possible delays as the westbound Route 37 bridge will be closed to just one lane.

This closure affect travel out of Seaside Heights and Seaside Park only, it does not affect inbound traffic.

“Drivers traveling from the barrier island into mainland Toms River should give themselves extra time Monday through Thursday for the next few weeks because the RT 37 bridge westbound will be down to one lane as the NJ Department of Transportation contractors will be making deck repairs on the bridge,” officials reported today.

Beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, October 3 until 4 p.m. Thursday, October 6, and continuing each week, Monday through Thursday for a few weeks, NJDOT’s contractor, PKF Mark III, Inc., is scheduled to close one lane on the Route 37 westbound Tunney Bridge for bridge deck repairs. In addition, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day Monday through Thursday, a second lane will be closed. At least one lane will be maintained at all times. Route 37 eastbound Mathis Bridge traffic will not be affected. The work is expected to be completed by the end of October.
