Shoplifter caught with 27 bottles of lotion at South Boston store

Officers were dispatched to a report of a shoplifter in custody at 7 Allstate Road at approximately 4:49 PM on Tuesday. Loss prevention personnel reported a known suspect had concealed 27 bottles of lotion in a large duffel bag and attempted to leave without paying.
The suspect had previously been trespassed from the store in November and is believed to have stolen merchandise valued over $56,000 from Target locations across several states.
Long Tran, 54, of Dorchester, was arrested and is expected to face charges of shoplifting by asportation over $250 and trespass in South Boston District Court.

Boston, MA – A pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle on January 3, 2026, at the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Hereford Street. The vehicle allegedly entered the Commonwealth Avenue Mall and hit a man who was walking his dog before fleeing the scene.
Officers from District D-4 responded to a radio call at approximately 8:09 a.m. and found Boston EMS treating the victim on the Commonwealth Avenue Mall walkway. The man was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Boston Police Department obtained the vehicle’s registration information and broadcast a description of the vehicle. The unoccupied vehicle was discovered by the Brookline Police Department.
Following an investigation, William Haney, 42, of Boston, has been arrested and charged with murder and cruelty to animals. He is set to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on Monday, January 5, 2026.

East Boston, MA A 36-year-old man was placed under arrest on Wednesday night following an incident involving a knife. Officers responded to 131 Orleans Street at about 7:23 PM after reports of a suspect displaying a knife in the area.
Upon arrival, officers located the suspect and recovered a knife from his jean pocket. Two victims approached the officers, stating the suspect had threatened them while they were walking their dog.
Both victims fled as the suspect pursued them, and moments later, another victim reported that the suspect swung the knife and attempted to stab him. No injuries were reported from any of the incidents.
Diego Bautista-Perez of East Boston faces charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and two counts of disorderly conduct. He is expected to be arraigned in East Boston District Court.

BOSTON, MA A suspect linked to an armed robbery report was arrested in Dorchester on Wednesday afternoon. Officers responded to a report of a robbery at 262 E 8th Street around 3:19 PM.
A potential suspect was seen entering a bodega with a bandana over his face. Officers arrived and saw the man walking outside of the store and approached him.
The individual fled, prompting a foot pursuit. Despite multiple orders to halt, the suspect continued to run.
The suspect entered a backyard on Knowlton Street before the officer caught up to him and placed him in handcuffs.
A subsequent investigation revealed that the suspect had outstanding warrants for armed robbery, assault and battery, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Further warrants related to drug trafficking were also discovered.
During the arrest, officers found 68 grams of fentanyl, 29 grams of crystal meth, and five grams of crack cocaine.
Officers also recovered a scale with white powder residue and $1,124 in cash.
Dempsey Allen, 28, of Milford, faces multiple charges, including trafficking of fentanyl and methamphetamine.
He is expected to appear in South Boston District Court for the arraignment.
