SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A local high school student who lost their bicycle to theft recently got a welcome surprise thanks to a collaboration between the Syracuse Police Department and the Syracuse Police Athletic League (PAL).
The initiative began when a student at PSLA at Fowler High School approached School Resource Officer Craw for assistance after their bicycle was stolen. Officer Craw discovered that the stolen bicycle was in poor condition, prompting him to find a better solution for the student.
With help from the Syracuse PAL, Officer Craw secured funding to purchase a new bicycle. Joined by faculty members, Craw presented the replacement bike to the student, who was described as grateful and excited by the unexpected gift.
The Syracuse Police Department shared the story on social media, expressing their satisfaction in being able to assist the student. “We are extremely happy that we could help out in this situation, and we wish the student safe travels on his new bicycle!” the department wrote on Facebook.
The gesture highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to engage positively with local youth, building connections beyond traditional policing.
