Teen charged after threatening uncle with gun during family dispute in Memphis

Memphis, TN An 18-year-old has been charged with aggravated assault, domestic assault, and possession of a firearm after threatening his uncle with a gun. The incident occurred in the 1300 block of Overton Park Avenue.

The victim reported that Kevin Lowery became angry when he confronted him about stealing. Lowery then indicated he would take the teen to his sister’s home for the night.

While armed, Lowery allegedly replaced a standard magazine with a 100-round drum. He threatened his uncle, saying he would start shooting if he wasn’t driven away quickly.

Police responded after the victim called for assistance. Officers found Lowery sitting outside the apartment with a gun and a high-capacity magazine falling from his lap as he stood.

In addition to the firearm, the officers discovered marijuana in Lowery’s possession. Police also spoke with an aunt who indicated Lowery sent a threatening message regarding the situation.

Lowery was taken into custody and is currently held in the Shelby County Jail with a bond set at $25,000.
