Toms River North wins state football title 48-14 over Kingsway

The Toms River North Mariners are the New Jersey Group 5 South champions after crushing Kingsway Friday night 48-14.

Micah Ford led the Mariners with four touchdowns including a 25-yard interception return to put the Mariners on the board first. Once again, the opposing defense spent much of the game staring at the back of Micah’s #1 jersey as he blew past defenders all night.

In the first quarter, Ford scored three touchdowns to put the Mariners up 21-0.

Tareq Council ran an interception 90 yards into the endzone to give the Mariners a 27-7 lead at half-time.

In the second half, it was more of the same for the Mariners. Ford pushed into the endzone on a goal-line rush in the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Josh Moore started things with an 81-yard touchdown run. Later, he ran the ball into the endzone from the two-yard line to seal the Mariners’ 48-14 win and Group 5 South title.

North put the finishing touches on a perfect 12-0 season.
