UNION, NJ — A community fundraiser has been launched to honor the life of 20-year-old Jayden Reyes, who passed away after a courageous battle with a rare cancer. The GoFundMe campaign, organized by Sara Henriques on behalf of Jayden’s mother, Arisai Cotto, has raised $5,870 of its $10,000 goal as of Tuesday.
Jayden, who had been fighting cancer since 2021, was remembered for his love of camping, fishing, building Legos, playing video games, and exploring new adventures. “Jayden’s life, though tragically brief, was filled with love, memories, and a deepening faith,” Henriques wrote in the fundraiser description.
The campaign seeks to support funeral and burial expenses, allowing Jayden’s family to give him a farewell that honors his memory and his unwavering spirit. The service is scheduled for December 8, 2024, in Union, NJ.
The fundraiser has received donations from 91 contributors, including a $500 gift from Michael Martinetti, the largest contribution so far. Ernesto Diaz, the campaign’s first donor, gave $200, while Michelle Martinez recently added $50 to the growing total.
Jayden’s family expressed gratitude for the love and generosity they have received during this difficult time. The campaign remains active, as the community continues to offer support for the Reyes family in their time of loss.
