Wall Township Police Make 16 Arrests in Six Days, Including 9 DWI Cases

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Wall Township police made 16 arrests over a six-day period beginning Sept. 1, including nine motorists accused of driving while intoxicated.

The arrests occurred on local roads and major highways throughout the township, with six DWI arrests coming Sunday alone. Police also announced the arrest of a 23-year-old Manasquan woman on vehicular homicide and assault by auto charges stemming from a March crash.

Six DWI Arrests in Hours Sunday Morning

Sunday was the busiest day in the department’s report.

At 1:51 a.m., Patrolman Kevin Donegan arrested Isaias Gasper-Galvez, 63, of Jackson, for DWI following a motor vehicle stop on Interstate 195.

Four minutes later, Patrolman Marc Chavez arrested Christopher Balta-Campodonico, 27, of Long Branch, following a DWI stop on State Highway 18.

At 1:59 a.m., Patrolman Trent Powers arrested Justin Sweeney, 31, of Pennsylvania, for DWI after a stop on State Highway 138.

The arrests continued.

Matthew Ciliberto, 30, of Middlesex, was arrested by Patrolman Clint Forgach following a 2:11 a.m. stop on Eighteenth Avenue.

At 3:14 a.m., Patrolman Johan Moreno arrested Devrin Braxton, 41, of Neptune, on State Highway 138. Police charged Braxton with DWI and hindering apprehension.

The final DWI arrest listed Sunday came at 5:38 a.m., when Patrolman Mark Daugherty arrested Jerel Stewart, 40, of Brick, following a stop on Allenwood Lakewood Road.

All six were released in accordance with John’s Law, police said.

Three More DWI Arrests Earlier in the Week

The Sunday arrests followed three other DWI cases reported earlier in the week.

Patrolman Joseph Liddy arrested James Price, 60, of Watchung, after a 12:26 a.m. traffic stop Tuesday on Atlantic Avenue.

On Saturday, Jonathan Flores, 30, of Brick, was arrested by Patrolman Johan Moreno following a 1:18 a.m. stop on State Highway 34.

Later that morning, police made two more DWI arrests.

Eddie Carmona, 33, of Toms River, was arrested following a 2:57 a.m. traffic stop on State Highway 35. William Zamor, 42, of Sayreville, was arrested at 5:11 a.m. following a stop on Heron Drive.

Each was processed and released under John’s Law.

The arrests are allegations. A DWI charge does not establish that a driver was intoxicated, and the department’s weekly report did not provide blood-alcohol readings or other details about the individual stops.

Manasquan Woman Charged With Vehicular Homicide

The most serious charges listed in the police report involved an investigation dating back six months.

Patrolman Megan Alexander arrested Tamara Lawlor, 23, of Manasquan, on Tuesday on charges of vehicular homicide and assault by auto.

Police said the charges stem from a motor vehicle crash that occurred March 5.

The department’s weekly arrest report did not provide additional information about that crash, identify the person who died or detail the allegations supporting the charges.

Lawlor was processed and transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.

The charges against her are allegations and have not been proven in court.

Warrants, Shoplifting and Resisting Arrest

Several other arrests involved outstanding Wall Township warrants.

On Friday, Patrolman Patrick Ferrante took custody of Nicholas Mucci, 31, of Bridgeton, at New Jersey State Parole in Neptune. Mucci was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.

That same day, Patrolman Megan Alexander went to the Lakewood Police Department and took custody of Christopher Davis, 39, of Lakewood, on a Wall Township warrant. He was also transported to the county jail.

On Saturday, Alexander took custody of Ibeth Hernandez Garcia, 25, of Spring Lake, at the East Brunswick Police Department on a Wall warrant.

Patrolman Joshua Wheeler later took custody of Austin Johnson, 33, of Ocean, at the Ocean Township Police Department. Johnson was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.

Police also arrested Maritza Islas, 35, of Wall, on Wednesday for active Neptune City warrants following a motor vehicle stop on State Highway 33/34. She was released on her own recognizance.

Shoplifting, Obstruction Arrests Also Reported

Saturday’s activity wasn’t limited to DWI and warrant arrests.

Patrolman Hunter Manning arrested Evelyn Russell, 41, of Bradley Beach, on a shoplifting charge stemming from an incident that day at ShopRite on State Highway 35. She was taken to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.

William Bennett, 45, of Freehold, was arrested on obstruction and resisting arrest charges following a suspicious-person investigation on State Highway 33/34. Patrolman Joseph Liddy made the arrest, and Bennett was taken to the county jail.

Police also charged Theodosia Jefferson, 64, of Wall, with obstruction following a motor vehicle stop on State Highway 35. She was processed and released on a summons.

All charges listed by police are accusations, and defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
