Brooklyn, NY — Eleven alleged members of two rival street gangs have been named in a conspiracy indictment, which includes charges related to murder, multiple shootings, and gun possession. The Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, in collaboration with the New York City Police Department, announced the indictments today, targeting individuals from the “Stain Gang” and “Albany Gang” for acts of violence in and around the Crown Heights area.
The defendants face charges that include second-degree murder, attempted murder, conspiracy, and various counts of criminal possession of a weapon. The indictment stems from a long-term investigation by the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Violent Criminal Enterprises Bureau and the NYPD’s Brooklyn North Violent Crime Squad. The investigation revealed that the violence between the two gangs was largely retaliatory, following the murder of a Stain Gang member in 2020.
Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez stated that these indictments underscore the commitment to preventing gang violence and holding those responsible accountable for terrorizing the community. NYPD Commissioner Edward A. Caban emphasized the importance of targeting the primary drivers of crime to ensure the safety of New York City’s residents.
The defendants are scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon before Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Danny Chun.
