Freehold, NJ – A nationally-awarded educator from Freehold Township High School has been chosen to represent New Jersey in the U.S. Department of State’s Fulbright Teachers for Global Classrooms Program, a distinguished initiative aimed at fostering global education and cultural exchange among American schools.
Dr. Angello Villarreal, who also teaches at RAISE Academy, was selected as one of approximately 400 educators nationwide for the 2025–2026 Fulbright cycle. He will join a select cohort of master teachers participating in the international program, which equips U.S. educators with the tools to bring global perspectives into their classrooms.
The recognition is the latest in a series of honors for Dr. Villarreal, who earlier this year received the TUMI USA Professional Award, acknowledging his leadership and contributions as a Peruvian-American educator. In a formal letter, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy congratulated Dr. Villarreal, praising his commitment to educational excellence and his role in bringing pride to New Jersey’s Peruvian community.
Created in 1946, the Fulbright Program is one of the world’s most respected international exchange initiatives, having supported over 400,000 students, scholars, teachers, and professionals from all backgrounds in study and research abroad. Through the Teachers for Global Classrooms Program, Dr. Villarreal will engage in professional development, global collaboration, and international fieldwork designed to strengthen cross-cultural learning in U.S. schools.
Governor Murphy stated that Dr. Villarreal’s selection reflects a strong commitment to fostering dialogue and understanding across cultures, and noted the state’s pride in his achievement.
