Police ask witnesses to come forward as crash investigation continues
CUMBERLAND, MD — A bicyclist was taken to a hospital Wednesday evening after being struck in a crash involving a motor vehicle on Greene Street, prompting an ongoing investigation by local and county crash investigators.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:50 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, in the 20 block of Greene Street, according to the Cumberland Police Department.
Officers responded to the scene and found that the collision involved a bicyclist and a motor vehicle.
The bicyclist was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. Police did not release information about the cyclist’s condition.
The Cumberland Police Crash Team is leading the investigation with assistance from the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office Crash Team.
Authorities have not released details about the circumstances of the collision or whether any charges are being considered.
Greene Street has since reopened to traffic.
