Brick Township, NJ – A key stretch of Brick Boulevard is closed Friday morning as crews work to repair a utility pole damaged in a crash, disrupting traffic through one of the township’s busiest corridors. The closure affects southbound lanes between Chambers Bridge Road and Drum Point Road and is expected to remain in place until around midday.
Officials said the shutdown follows overnight damage that left the roadway unsafe for travel while repairs are underway. Drivers approaching the area are being diverted, with traffic redirected at Chambers Bridge Road to ease congestion and maintain flow around the closure.
Detours and traffic impact
“Please be advised that Brick Boulevard southbound is currently closed from Chambers Bridge Road to Drum Point Road,” the Brick Township Police Department stated in a traffic alert. “This closure is expected to last until approximately 12:00 PM while crews repair a utility pole damaged in a crash last night.”
Motorists traveling through the area are being given specific detour instructions at the intersection. “When you reach the intersection of Chambers Bridge Road and Brick Blvd, you will be directed to turn either North onto Chambers Bridge Road or South onto Hooper Avenue,” the department said.

Work crews on site
Utility and county crews are actively working at the scene to restore the damaged infrastructure and reopen the roadway. “JCP&L and the Ocean County Road Department are on-site working to clear the area as quickly as possible,” officials said.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the area during the closure window. “We recommend avoiding the area if possible to prevent delays, or plan an alternate route. Thank you for your patience!” the department added.
