HAINES CITY, Florida – Robert Brush, a 46-year-old Florida resident, was arrested after a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamine. Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies initiated the stop when they noticed a pickup truck with its tailgate obscuring the license plate.

During the stop, deputies asked Brush for his driver’s license. Upon inspection, they noticed a white crystalline substance on the license, prompting a field test. The substance tested positive for meth. Brush denied knowledge of the drugs on his license and claimed there were no illegal substances in his vehicle.

However, the situation escalated when a police dog was brought in and indicated the presence of drugs in the car. A subsequent search revealed a baggie hidden between the driver’s seat and center console, containing what appeared to be a significant amount of the same substance found on the license. The contents of the baggie also tested positive for meth, totaling approximately 14.23 grams. Additionally, deputies found another baggie containing about 2 grams of meth.
