PHILADELPHIA, PA – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has deported Amal Said, a Pakistani citizen and convicted international drug trafficker, following his prison sentence for heroin distribution, officials announced.
Said was removed to Pakistan on March 5 after serving 131 months in prison for international narcotics conspiracy and attempted heroin distribution. The U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York convicted him after he was prosecuted upon arrival in the United States.
ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Philadelphia, in coordination with law enforcement agencies, facilitated his deportation. “The extradition, conviction, and removal of Amal Said demonstrates the collaborative, whole-of-government approach that ICE supports in protecting the citizens of the U.S.,” said ERO Philadelphia acting Field Office Director Brian McShane.
ICE officials first encountered Said at Federal Correctional Institution Loretto in August 2023, where they issued a notice of expedited removal and placed an immigration detainer. Upon his release, he was transferred to ICE custody and remained detained throughout his removal proceedings.
ICE emphasized its ongoing efforts to target and remove individuals involved in serious criminal activity, particularly those engaged in international drug trafficking.
