NEWARK, NJ — Newark police are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect accused of stealing a wallet from an unlocked vehicle earlier this month.
The burglary happened at approximately 11:17 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, in the 100 block of 16th Avenue, according to Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr.
Surveillance camera captures burglary
Police said surveillance video recorded the suspect entering the victim’s unlocked vehicle and taking personal belongings.
The stolen wallet contained cash and several bank cards. After leaving the vehicle, the suspect fled east on 16th Avenue aboard a bicycle.
Authorities did not disclose the amount of money taken or release additional information about the suspect.

Anonymous tips could earn reward
Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the burglary can call Newark’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS, or 1-877-695-8477.
Tips are confidential and may qualify for a reward. Information can also be submitted through the Newark Police Division’s online tip portal.
