QUEENS, N.Y. – An NYPD officer was struck in the head with a glass bottle while attempting to disperse a disorderly group in Queens, police said.
The assault happened at about 12:47 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, behind 13-10 34th Avenue. The officer was on duty and in uniform at the time.
According to police, an unidentified person in the group threw a glass bottle that struck the officer in the head and caused a laceration.
Bottle Thrown as Officer Dispersed Disorderly Group
The NYPD did not provide additional information about what prompted officers to disperse the group or how many people were gathered at the location.
After the bottle struck the officer, the person accused of throwing it ran from the area on foot.
Police did not disclose whether the injured officer required hospitalization or provide further details about his condition.
No arrest has been announced.
