One dead, one injured in Elmhurst shooting outside 108th Street building

Queens, NY – A 27-year-old man was killed and another wounded Thursday night in a shooting outside a residential building in Elmhurst, police said.

Officers from the 110th Precinct responded around 8:38 p.m. to a 911 call reporting an assault in front of 57-18 108th Street.

When they arrived, they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

Victim identified as 27-year-old Queens resident

Police identified the deceased as Oliver Nava, 27, of 81st Street in Queens. He had been shot in the chest and was taken by EMS to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

A 28-year-old man also wounded in the incident sustained a gunshot injury to his left leg and was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Queens, where he remains in stable condition.

Investigation continues, no arrests made

Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and have not announced any arrests or identified suspects. The motive for the attack remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
