Roxbury man arrested for firearm possession during traffic stop

Roxbury, MA Officers assigned to District B-2 apprehended Austin Tate, 30, of Worcester, on firearm-related charges. The arrest occurred at approximately 8:09 PM during a routine patrol on Harrison Avenue and Dudley Street.

During a walk and talk in the area, officers noticed a vehicle parked in a No Stand/ No Stop zone. A query of the vehicle’s registration revealed that the license plate did not match the vehicle.

While officers prepared a parking ticket, Tate was seen entering the vehicle and driving away. Officers activated their lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop.

Tate was asked to exit the vehicle as it was to be towed for improper registration. A motor vehicle inventory search uncovered a Tanfoglio E.A.A. firearm, loaded with one round in the chamber and fifteen rounds in the magazine.

Tate was arrested and faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm without an FID card and carrying a loaded firearm without a license. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
