Teen busted in setup-style armed robbery in Southeast DC as two suspects remain on the run

Washington, DC — A late-night meetup in Southeast turned into an armed robbery when a victim expecting to meet one person was instead ambushed by three, with one now under arrest and two still at large.

Teyonna Barber, 18, of Capitol Heights, Maryland, was arrested Wednesday in connection with an armed robbery that occurred around 10:45 p.m. on October 28 in the 300 block of Anacostia Road SE. Investigators say Barber initially entered the victim’s car during a planned meeting, then briefly stepped out — at which point two other suspects armed with guns approached and robbed the victim before fleeing.

The victim was not physically injured during the incident and managed to drive away immediately after the robbery. Surveillance footage later captured images of the two additional suspects, who remain unidentified as of Thursday.

Barber was arrested under a D.C. Superior Court warrant and charged with armed robbery (gun). She is the only suspect in custody, while the search continues for the other two individuals involved.

The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to arrests and indictments in this case.
