Middletown Teens Save Children After Falling Through Ice While Sledding at Beacon Hill Country Club

December 20, 2020

HOLMDEL, NJ – Two Middletown children, Olivia Heid, 8, and her brother RJ, 4, went sledding at Sled Hill in Holmdel, but the hill was closed due to Governor Phil Murphy’s executive order limiting outdoor gatherings, so they and their family went to Beacon Hill Country Club.

The children began sledding in an inflatable tube, which would later save their lives.

After going down the hill, the children found themselves atop of a partially frozen pond.  Their parents began screaming to a group of teens at the bottom of the hill near the pond and they noticed the children in the tube, sinking into the pond. The boys rushed to save the children and managed to get them out.
