HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – A Powerball player in Hempstead won $50,000 in the October 8 drawing, the New York Lottery announced Thursday.

The lucky ticket was sold at Double Diamond Food Mart, located at 196 Henry Street. It matched four white balls plus the red Power Ball, earning the game’s third-tier prize.

Key Points

  • Winning numbers drawn October 8
  • Powerball drawings held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 10:59 p.m.

How Powerball works

Powerball numbers are drawn from 1 to 69, and the red Power Ball is drawn from a separate field of 1 to 26. Matching four numbers and the Power Ball yields a $50,000 prize.
