Police nab duo for organized retail crime at Wilmington Target
WILMINGTON, DE – Delaware State Police arrested 25-year-old Daylast Deshields from Wilmington and obtained a warrant for 34-year-old Brendan Davis from Rehoboth Beach for organized retail crime. The incidents occurred last month at a Target store.
On Thursday, detectives were informed about a theft that took place on September 28 at Target, located at 1050 Brandywine Parkway in Wilmington. The investigation revealed that at approximately 9:00 a.m., an unknown suspect loaded a shopping cart with over $900 worth of clothing and electronics before leaving the store.
The suspect returned shortly after and filled another cart with over $900 worth of merchandise. Soon after, he was confronted by Target’s Asset Protection staff, prompting him to abandon the cart and flee with his accomplice.
Following their investigation, police identified Davis as the primary suspect and Deshields as the accomplice. On Sunday, Deshields was arrested and taken to Troop 1.
Deshields faced charges for organized retail crime and conspiracy, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, and released on a $1,000 unsecured bond.
Davis currently remains in custody at a correctional facility in West Chester, Pennsylvania, awaiting extradition to Delaware. Upon his return, he will face similar charges.
This incident highlights ongoing issues with retail theft in the area as law enforcement continues to respond to organized crime efforts.

**Rehoboth Beach, DE** – Delaware State Police arrested Charles Gehman from Lynchburg, Virginia, for felony assault in Rehoboth Beach. The incident occurred on Saturday morning.
On March 8, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m., there was a noise report from a protest near Popeye’s on Coastal Highway. During the response, officers discovered a 65-year-old man had been assaulted in the parking lot. The victim sustained minor injuries following a dispute over traffic and parking. Charles Gehman was identified as the suspect.
After the assault, Gehman left in a gray Toyota Corolla with Virginia license plates. Troopers located both the vehicle and Gehman shortly afterward, leading to his arrest without incident.
Gehman was charged at Troop 7 and arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3. He was released on a $4,000 unsecured bond. The charge listed is Assault 2nd Degree Causing Injury to a Person over 62, classified as a felony.

**Rehoboth Beach, DE** – The Delaware State Police arrested Shakiel Carter of Dover and Tramel Wright of Hartly for organized retail crime at Tanger Outlets in Rehoboth Beach on Saturday afternoon.
On Saturday, at approximately 4:14 p.m., a trooper responded to a shoplifting incident at The North Face, located at 36706 Bayside Outlet Drive. The trooper was informed about a female suspect concealing merchandise. The suspect’s accomplice, a male, had exited the store as the trooper arrived.
The female suspect provided false identification before fleeing the scene, entering a Honda minivan with the male suspect and a child. Troopers found the van abandoned, with the child inside. Witnesses helped find the male suspect, Tramel Wright, who was arrested and found possessing bags containing suspected heroin.
Shakiel Carter, identified as the female suspect, was apprehended at ACME Markets. A search revealed stolen items from Victoria’s Secret and Under Armour, valued over $1,700. Carter and Wright were charged and taken to Troop 7. Carter was held on a $23,050 secured bond, and Wright
