Two shot in Roxbury neighborhood, suspect arrested

Boston, MA A shooting incident occurred on Sunday morning, resulting in two individuals being injured. Police responded to Marvin Street around 10:47 AM after receiving reports of a person shot.

Officers arrived on the scene to find an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. They provided medical assistance and the victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

While the officers were still assessing the situation, a report of a second victim emerged near 256 Dudley Street. This individual was also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Through the investigation, detectives identified the second victim as Pernell Brown, 56, of Boston. Brown was arrested shortly after the shooting.

He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on multiple charges, including armed assault with intent to murder and assault with a dangerous weapon. Additional charges include carrying a firearm without a firearm identification card, possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.

Brown also had outstanding warrants for larceny under $1,200 and making threats to commit a crime.

Roxbury, MA Officers assigned to District B-2 apprehended Austin Tate, 30, of Worcester, on firearm-related charges. The arrest occurred at approximately 8:09 PM during a routine patrol on Harrison Avenue and Dudley Street.

During a walk and talk in the area, officers noticed a vehicle parked in a No Stand/ No Stop zone. A query of the vehicle’s registration revealed that the license plate did not match the vehicle.

While officers prepared a parking ticket, Tate was seen entering the vehicle and driving away. Officers activated their lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop.

Tate was asked to exit the vehicle as it was to be towed for improper registration. A motor vehicle inventory search uncovered a Tanfoglio E.A.A. firearm, loaded with one round in the chamber and fifteen rounds in the magazine.

Tate was arrested and faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm without an FID card and carrying a loaded firearm without a license. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
