Police launch homicide investigation after victims died following overnight attack on West Lexington Street

BALTIMORE, Md. — A man and woman were killed after a late-night shooting erupted behind homes in West Baltimore, sending homicide detectives searching for answers in a deadly double shooting.

Southwest District patrol officers responded around 12:49 a.m. Friday to the rear of the 1800 block of West Lexington Street following reports of gunfire, according to Baltimore police.

When officers arrived, they found a 22-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man both suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Medics transported both victims to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Police said both victims later died from their injuries.

Investigators have not released the identities of the victims or provided information about a possible suspect or motive.

Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the shooting.
