PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Authorities launched a water search Wednesday evening after an adult man was reported missing in the Delaware River near Penn’s Landing.
According to the Philadelphia Police Department, officers were dispatched at approximately 6:59 p.m. to 101 S. Christopher Columbus Blvd. following a report of a person in the river.
Marine unit searched the river
When officers arrived, witnesses told police an adult male had entered the river and had not resurfaced.
Philadelphia Police Marine Unit 3 responded to conduct search operations in an effort to locate the missing individual.
Authorities did not immediately release the man’s identity or provide details about what led to him entering the water.
Investigation remains active
Police said the scene has since been cleared, but the investigation remains active and is being handled by the Philadelphia Police Department’s Central Detective Division.
Officials emphasized that the information released is preliminary and subject to change as investigators continue gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
No additional information was immediately available Thursday regarding whether the missing man had been located.
