**FREEHOLD, NJ –** A former Ocean County resident has been charged in relation to a fatal 2022 multi-vehicle accident in Howell, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago’s announcement on Wednesday.

Drew Peterson, 34, who previously lived in Jackson Township and now resides in Jensen Beach, Florida, faces one count of second-degree vehicular manslaughter. Following a thorough evaluation by a forensic toxicologist, the indictment was issued on Wednesday, October 30. Peterson was processed on Monday, November 18 after returning to New Jersey.

The incident occurred on Friday, March 11, 2022, at around 12:05 a.m. Peterson was operating a 2004 Ford F150 pickup westbound on Route 33, west of the Colts Neck Road intersection, when it crossed the centerline and sideswiped a 2004 Kia Rio. Continuing in the wrong direction, the pickup then struck head-on with a 2010 Dodge Challenger driven by Robert C. Johnson, 50, of Neptune Township. The collision caused the truck to overturn, ejecting Peterson.

Ryan Gunsauls, 33, from Union Beach, pleaded guilty last week before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Christie Bevacqua. His charges included first-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child by Manufacturing Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), second-degree Attempted Endangering by creating CSAM, and second- and third-degree Endangering through Sexual Conduct.

The investigation began earlier this year, led by MCPO Detective Joseph Mason, involving the MCPO Special Victims Bureau and Union Beach Police Department. A juvenile reported Gunsauls solicited and shared explicit materials via a social media app. Eight more victims, aged 11 to 17, were identified, resulting in Gunsauls’ arrest in May and subsequent detention as the case proceeds, as ordered by a Superior Court Judge.

Santiago on Friday. Jaszhark A. Rogers, 38, received the sentence for first-degree murder, first-degree felony murder, first-degree armed robbery, first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, and three second-degree weapons charges.

Rogers was convicted on August 16, and sentenced on Friday before Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Joseph W. Oxley. His sentence includes life imprisonment plus two additional 18-year sentences for armed robbery and weapons charges, along with a consecutive 10-year sentence for the Certain Persons Not to Have Weapons charge.

The incident occurred on June 18, 2022, when Asbury Park Police found 26-year-old Yahnie Patterson of Lakewood severely injured on Washington Avenue. Patterson was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries on June 21, 2022.

Chief Peter S. Cooke, aged 58, has been charged with third-degree Computer Theft and third-degree Conspiracy to Commit Shoplifting. The investigation, led by the MCPO Professional Responsibility Unit, uncovered that between February 2019 and August 2023, Cooke misused a law-enforcement database to access personal information about two individuals without a lawful purpose.

Additionally, it was revealed that Cooke, while on administrative leave, assisted a co-conspirator in committing multiple shoplifting incidents at a local grocery store during August and September. The charges against Cooke were served earlier this month, with proceedings set to occur in Monmouth County Superior Court.

MCPO Assistant Prosecutor Melanie Falco, Director of the Professional Responsibility Unit, is prosecuting the case. Debbie Simon, based in West Orange, represents Cooke. On Wednesday, officers responded to a robbery at a Bank of America on State Highway 35. The suspect, masked and armed, reportedly stole over $5,000 and fled.

An off-duty officer observed a suspect matching Kniffin’s description on a bicycle near the bank. He followed the individual to Kniffin’s M Street residence, where Kniffin was arrested.

Kniffin remains in custody at Monmouth County Correctional Institution. The case is managed by Assistant Prosecutor Michael Luciano, and Kniffin’s attorney details have not been released.

Baradekji faces one count of third-degree Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License while involved in a fatal crash. The incident occurred on Monday, August 12, at approximately 7:34 a.m., when a crash involving a motor vehicle and bicycle was reported near Bethany Road and Galway Drive.

The bicycle rider, 65-year-old Timothy Neher from Holmdel, was found at the scene and later transported to Bayshore Medical Center. He succumbed to his injuries at 8:41 a.m. An investigation conducted by local authorities determined that the bicyclist was struck by a 2008 Kia driven by Baradekji.
