Armed carjacking in Northwest DC leaves two suspects on the run
Washington, DC – A late-night carjacking in the 1300 block of Buchannan Street NW on Monday has sparked an active search for two suspects, one of whom was reportedly armed with a handgun, according to police.
The incident occurred around 11 p.m. in DC’s 4th District. Police say two male suspects approached a victim and stole their vehicle. One suspect was wearing a black hoodie, while the other wore a multicolored shirt. The suspects fled the area immediately after the carjacking, and their current whereabouts remain unknown.
Investigators believe at least one of the suspects was armed during the incident. Police responded quickly to the scene and canvassed the surrounding neighborhood for leads. No injuries have been reported at this time, and the make and model of the stolen vehicle have not yet been disclosed.
Officers are now reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses in an effort to identify the suspects and recover the vehicle. The crime occurred in a residential area that has seen sporadic vehicle-related crimes in recent months.
