The singer-songwriter known for hits like “Margaritaville” and “Come Monday,” passed away on Friday according to a statement from his family. The statement, posted on his website and social media accounts, confirmed he died peacefully at home, surrounded by family, friends, music, and his dogs.
Beyond music, Buffett was an entrepreneur, owning restaurant chains like Margaritaville Cafe and co-developing Cheeseburger in Paradise. He also authored several best-selling books.
Buffett is survived by his wife, Jane Slagsvol, and their three children. The family’s statement read, “He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many.”
