SPRING VALLEY, NEW YORK – Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II announced the guilty plea of 41-year-old Evelio Mendez of Spring Valley, New York, for sexual abuse of a child.
Mendez pled guilty to one count of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree. The abuse began in September 2020 when the victim was 8 years old and continued until September 2023, during which Mendez was in a relationship with the victim’s mother. District Attorney Walsh condemned the act as “despicable” and emphasized the importance of protecting children. Mendez faces a significant prison sentence and will be required to register as a sex offender.
